Eras oder auch Acogidas genannt, sind befestigte Flächen um Regen und Niederschlag zu sammeln, dieses Wasser in Ajibes zu speichern und für den Verbrauch im Haus, für Tiere und die Landwirtschaft zu nutzen. Diese Anlagen, mit ihren teilweise eigenwilligen Außenformen an den Berghängen Lanzarotes, prägen in manchen Regionen die Landschaft.
Mit der Einführung der Meerwasserentsalzungsanlagen und der Verfügbarkeit von Leitungs-Wasser fast überall, haben die Eras und Ajibes in der Nutzung an Bedeutung verloren. Sie haben aber über Jahrhunderte das Leben auf Lanzarote ermöglicht und sind als Bauwerke die Landschaft prägend und kulturhistorisch von Bedeutung.
Anfang der 1980er Jahre habe ich erste, großflächige Bodenzeichnungen im öffentlichen Raum ralisiert. Seither habe ich unterschiedliche Anlässe genutzt um bodenflächige Werke zu realisiert. Meist war Beton oder Asphalt die vorhandene oder von mir hergestellte Grundlage, auf die ich Farbe in einfachen Formen aufgebracht habe.
Eine neue Qualität bekommen diese Bilder, weil sie seit wenigen Jahren über Google Earth im Internet von oben zu sehen sind. Es eröffnet sich eine neue Dimension der Landschaftsmalerei.

Eras, also known as acogidas, are paved areas to collect rain and precipitation, store this water in ajibes and use it for domestic consumption, animals and agriculture. These facilities, with their sometimes idiosyncratic external shapes on the mountain slopes of Lanzarote, shape the landscape in some regions.
With the introduction of seawater desalination plants and the availability of tap water almost everywhere, the Eras and Ajibes have become less important in use. However, they have made life on Lanzarote possible for centuries and, as buildings, they shape the landscape and are of cultural and historical importance.
At the beginning of the 1980s I made my first large-scale floor drawings in public spaces. Since then I have used various occasions to create floor-level works. Most of the time, concrete or asphalt was the existing base or the base I made, onto which I applied paint in simple shapes.
These images have taken on a new quality because they have been visible from above on the Internet via Google Earth for a few years now. A new dimension of landscape painting opens up.

Las Eras o Acogidas son espacios preparados para facilitar la recogida de agua de las lluvias y guiarlas hasta las Aljibes, contenedores subterraneos de agua, creados por los agricultores y habitantes de la isla de Lanzarote. Tradicionalmente para el consumo domestico, la cria de animales y la agricultura. Esos espacios construidos con un aspecto, a menudo tan particular, por ejemplo en las laderas de lasmontañas, barrancos, ó cualquier otro desnivel apropiado del terreno, marcan el aspecto paisajistico de la isla de Lanzarote.
Con la introducción de la fabrica de desalinización de aguas del Oceano Atlantico y el acceso de la población de una manera más comoda al agua, las eras han perdido su importancia, entonces vital. Durante siglos hicieron posible la vida enla isla y són, como construcciones, determinantes en el paisaje lanzaroteño, así como de importancia historica-cultural.
A principios de los años 80 he realizado los primeros dibujos grandes sobre pisos de espacios públicos. Desde entonces he utilizado distintas ocasiones para realizar obras en superficie de suelo. La mayoría de las veces las superficies ya existentes ó por mi producidas erán de hormigón o asfalto sobre las que yo he aplicado color y formas muy sencillas.
Una nueva calidad adquieren estas imágenes porque desde hace unos años en Internet y a través de Google Earth se pueden ver desde arriba. Se abre una nueva dimension de la pintura paisajística.
